On March 19, 1950, the Lord planted the need for a new church in the heart of Noah Blackburn. He obeyed the call and established Grace Baptist Church. The first meetings were held in a building on High Point Road. On May 15, 1950, services were moved to an old building on Hilltop Road. The early services were held on Sunday afternoon. On May 28, 1950, the church voted to hold Sunday School at 10:00am, morning services at 11:00 and a evening service at 7:30.
The present church property was purchased on June 10, 1950, and the first service on this property was held on June 11th in a store building. The first church building was completed and services held in it on March 18, 1951. A new auditorium was built and ready for use by February 8, 1953.
Reverend Blackburn served the Lord at Grace Baptist Church faithfully as its pastor until his retirement on December 31, 1976 and his departure to his heavenly home on April 26, 1980.
On January 1, 1977, Kenneth Roger Smith became Grace Baptist Church's second pastor. During this time, Grace grew in its outreach and building size. In early 1981 the Fellowship Hall was completed. On July 26, 1984, Reverend Smith was called to be with the Lord.
Joseph L. Godwin was called to be Grace's next pastor on April 7, 1985, and continued until he was called to pastor a church in Ohio on January 31, 1989.
The church searched until it found and called Tony M. Thomas to be its fourth pastor. Pastor Thomas started at Grace on June 25, 1989. In July of 2010 renovations to the sanctuary began and were completed at the end of September of 2010. In September of 2011 the Lord called Pastor Thomas to a different ministry and we began our search for a new pastor.
On April 8, 2012, Paul Coward became Grace Baptist Church's fifth pastor. After three years of faithful service Paul resigned to care for his parents on April 26, 2015 .
Under the leadership of interim pastor, retired missionary Roger Price, Grace Baptist prayed, searched, and sought God's will until calling Todd Nance on March 13, 2016 to be our sixth pastor.
The Lord has been faithful and this ministry has blessed many. We give God all the GLORY.
